Nova Skyland – Nature Holidays in Rovaniemi All Year Round
The city of Rovaniemi is surrounded by nature and wilderness offering a nature holiday and a city-break all in one. Enjoy the versatile nature of Lapland in the apartments of Hotel Nova Skyland.
Savour nature like art. The panoramic windows bring trees and nature indoors like a vast painting for you to see. Join Nova Skyland’s treks on foot, skis, mountain-bike or a husky-sled and experience the fine trails around Rovaniemi.
WINTER
Experience the darkest time of the polar night in Rovaniemi during 21st and 22nd December when the sun does not rise at all. However, the polar night is not completely dark: the hustle and bustle of Santa’s official home town with its lights brighten up the area. Santa Claus Village is only 200 metres from your accommodation in Nova Skyland. Come and join us in international Christmas fun and festivities!
SPRING
In April and May, the immense and thick ice starts melting with a bang (literally) in the large rivers in Lapland – you have to see it yourself. You can follow this incredible nature’s play almost in the centre of Rovaniemi which is located where the rivers Ounasjoki and Kemijoki cross. Reindeer babies are born and nature turns green within a few days. As nature wakes up under the glorious spring sunshine, also people wake from their winter’s hibernation.
SUMMER
Have you been to Rovaniemi in summer? We warmly recommend a visit! The midnight sun shines in Rovaniemi from 6th June until 7th July. You’ll be able to bask in the 24-hour sunlight – there’s life all day and night! The panoramic windows of the apartments in Nova Skyland have a view to the forest lit by the midnight sun. Arctic Circle’s summer can be warm reaching temperatures of +25 ℃.
AUTUMN
Harvest. Berries and mushrooms are ready to be picked. The forests are clad in yellow. The nights are getting darker and the Aurora Borealis season begins in mid-August. Autumn is the time for going outdoors, trekking and hiking.
